Lifestyle homestead typical of Cookernup acreage

WA 6219 · north of Harvey

Cookernup is where the lifestyle blocks sit.

Thirteen kilometres north of Harvey, small on the map, large in land. Buyers who say “I want acreage but I still want a town” often mean Cookernup without knowing the name yet.

Cookernup is agricultural country: dairy, cattle, bush at the foot of the Scarp, houses on larger lots. There is a general store, a hall, a fire brigade. You do not move here for cafés. You move here for space, a quieter night, and a driveway that is your business.

Lifestyle and equestrian

This is one of the patches we are asked about most for horses. Not every lot is set up — some are a paddock and a dream. Arena drainage, winter access, and whether the power and water will carry a stable block are the boring questions that decide whether the dream works. We sold a substantial lifestyle homestead in Cookernup in 2026; the market for the right block is real, and thin.

Getting in and out

South Western Highway is the spine. The Transwa Australind still stops here, which matters more than people think if one of you works toward Perth or Bunbury. Logue Brook Dam is the weekend: bush, water, horse trails depending on the season and the rules that week.

Do not use a Perth median to price Cookernup. Land size and water swing the number more than bedrooms.

Questions people actually ask

Does Cookernup have a school?

Not a full K–12 offering in the town itself. Families usually look to Harvey schools and the surrounding district. Factor the school run before you fall in love with a 20-acre driveway.

Is Cookernup good for a first lifestyle property?

Often yes — closer to Harvey’s services than a block further into the hills, with enough land to keep horses if the infrastructure is there. We will tell you if it is not.
